FAQ - Continuous Ink Supply System (CISS) | Q. What is a CISS and how does it work? | | A. The CISS (Continuous Ink Supply System) can provide significant savings to home and office inkjet printing. Our system provides a continuous supply of ink to your printer. The system is complete with its own cartridges and pre-filled ink reservoirs. Our patented cartridge draws the required amount of ink from the reservoirs as needed. If you use the 160mls of ink in the reservoirs, you simply refill it whenever needed using refill bulk ink ($10 per 100ml) from us. | | Q. How long does it take to install the unit? | A. It takes less than 5 minutes to install the unit and print out the first page. Comprehensive Instructions and accessories are provided in the box. | | Q. How much will I save by using a CISS? | | A. That depends how much you print. Obviously, the more you print the more you will be saving. But consider it this way: the HP cartridges that came with your printer contain 5.75mls of ink in the color cartridges, and 17.5mls of ink in the black cartridge. The HP color cartridges retail for around $9.99 and the black cartridge retails for around $17.99. So this equates to $67.94 for 46.25mls of ink = $1.47 per 1ml of ink. Nano compatible refill inks for the HP 02 are $10 per 100mls = 10c per ml, so that results in a savings of around a 93%! Our smallest set of replacement inks (100ml of each color x 6, total cost $60 for 600mls of ink) provides the equivalent of approx. 87 color cartridges and 5 black cartridges of ink (92 cartridges worth total). To buy the same amount of cartridges would cost you $959.08. |

| Q. Are all Ink Systems the Same? | A. Absolutely not. There is a great deal of difference between CISS units available in the market today. Some are simply imported copies of quality CISS units and use low grade inks and components. These are usually unreliable and require high maintenance as well as not conducive to long term use. Based on our intensive testing, these unreasonable designs on their CISS will cause the ¡°ink system error¡± to lock out the printer when the ink doesn¡¯t successfully flow into the print head and then lead to printer damage.
Also, we found that these units have a tendency to contain ink with a high alcohol base. This leads to tube blockages and can cause damage to the print heads. The cartridge designs on other units tend only to have a single-head seal or a rubber-style seal, which leak over time. We have developed our cartridges to ensure that ink flow is even and consistent. We also use HDPP plastic ink tank, high gauge silicone tubing and HDPE joints rather than traditional PVC tubing, ABS tank and joints. The latter set restricts ink flow in colder weather, which results in poor quality imaging or nondurable with solvents.
Our CISS ink tanks contain specially-designed siphon tubing that allows ink from to come from the top of the tank, rather than the bottom (as with all other CISS). This novel design prevents impurities from reaching the print head and also sets our CISS unit apart from others. There are very few, if any, other manufacturers in the world who have developed as stable and reliable a unit for the HP 02 series printers. Don't be fooled by cheap imitations!
As previously mentioned, the HP 02 cartridge printers can detect when non-factory inks are used and will lock out an ink system of the printer. Once this happens, you¡¯ll have to discard the printer or pay an expensive service fee to fix it. Our CISS unit is specially designed to prevent this and won¡¯t waste your money with expensive repairs. | | | | | | Q. Why do the ink reservoirs look not all the way full? | A. Your new CISS system has been pre-filled with 160mls of ink, which includes the ink already inside the reservoir and cartridges.
HP printers pump ink back and forth among the ink reservoir, print head, and cartridge during maintenance. This means the level of your ink reservoirs will alter during the running of the CISS. Therefore, we do not recommend filling the reservoirs to more than 90%, as ink may overflow during the maintenance cycle. t has also come to our attention from our customers that a few sellers are listing very misleading information about their systems as well as openly distributing our instruction manuals purporting them to be their own. Our R&D team spent considerable time ensuring that the CISS systems you purchase from Nano have been fully tested and that our instruction manuals ensure simple set-up and trouble-shooting. Although we always welcome quality competitors, we are finding more and more sellers that simply duplicate our manuals when our information does not relate to their respective products. If you happen to be sent copies of our manual or believe information you have received is misleading or fraudulent, we encourage you to contact us directly to report this type of activity. | | Please note: Our inks are not manufactured by HP.
